haubica statusas T sritis Gynyba apibrėžtis Pabūklas su trumpesniu negu patrankos vamzdžiu, šaudantis iškiliąja trajektorija (pakilimo kampas iki 70°). Šiuolaikinės haubicos yra 105–203 mm kalibro, vamzdžio ilgis 15–40 kalibrų, palyginti nedidelis pradinis greitis (300–800 m/s), kovinė greitašauda iki 10 šūvių/min, šaudymo nuotolis iki 24 km (su aktyviaisiais reaktyviniais sviediniais (ARS) iki 30 km). Haubicos būna velkamosios ir savaeigės. Dabar visose kariuomenėse yra haubicos. JAV 105 mm haubica M102 (sviedinio masė 15 kg, pradinis greitis 494 m/s, šaudymo nuotolis 11,5 km, ARS – 15,1 km, kovinė greitašauda 10 šūvių/min, kovinė masė 1470 kg); JAV 105 mm haubica M50 (M101, atitinkamai 14,97 kg, 472,4 m/s, 11,27 km, 2030 kg); JAV 155 mm haubica M198 (43,6 kg, 827 m/s, 22,2 km, ARS – 30 km, 4 šūviai/min, 7 076 kg; gali šaudyti branduoliniais 0,8 kt sviediniais 14 km nuotoliu); JAV 203,2 mm haubica M115 (90,72 kg, 594 m/s, 16,8 km, 1 šūvis/min, 113 470 kg); Vokietijos, D. Britanijos, Italijos 155 mm haubica FH-70 (43,6 kg, 827 m/s, 24 km, ARS – 30 km, 6 šūviai/min, 9300 kg); Rusijos 122 mm haubica D-30 (21,8 kg, 690 m/s, 15,4 km, 6–8 šūviai/min, 3150 kg, galimas aplinkinis šaudymas). JAV, Rusijos ir kt. 155 (152) mm ir 203 mm haubicos savo komplekte gali turėti branduolinius šaudmenis. Pirmosios haubicos pasirodė Europoje XV a. atitikmenys: angl. howitzer rus. гаубица
